Orgasmic Earth: The Sensual Call of May
By Mut Danu

It is difficult for me be indoors writing these days, but that's a good thing. On nice days the high window above my desk is open to the fresh air, and the Earth arrayed in deep Springtime, is beckoning with perfumed soil and the warbles and thrills of the sweet bird music. It's impossible to resist her Siren Call for long. Earth is just so sexy.

Maybe you have felt this too and weren't even aware that it was Nature calling. It's the insides-itchy feeling of having a crush on someone…the feeling of being too edgy to eat…the irrepressible urge to move, to dance, to sing, to go check your image ten times in the mirror before noon and see how hormones are making your eyes sparkle. You are not only crushed on the 'other' but in love with life. You feel sensual, groovy, sexy, hot and ready. Whew. Have you got the idea?

Turned on by Life Herself. Try that idea on for a moment and see how it feels…

….So did you feel anything? If you said, "No !" or " Huh?" I'm not surprised. But, if the mere thought that you could get turned on by nature doesn't do anything for you… maybe it's time to ask yourself… hmm, why not ?

Society works SO hard to separate us from nature. It's dirty out there, and not in the kinky sense. There are bugs and they will probably bite you. Birds are hovering just waiting to poop on you. Worms are laying stretched out on the path ready to make sticky goo on your shoes when you accidentally step on them. If you are going to be in love, that's fine, but it better fit exactly into societies narrow definition…and that has to do with finding an 'other' with the right credentials and forget about SENSUALITY unless you are planning to spend BIG BUCKS on the perfect underwear, perfume, and aphrodisiac theme restaurants preferably in somewhere exotic and stimulating like Bora Bora.

Time to throw off those self-imposed too tight shoes, in favor of a life that is open to every possibility, every hope, full of love and pleasure and healthiness! Wriggle your toes with pleasure and plunge them deep into sandy beaches and loamy hillsides every possible chance you get.

Okay, I haven't had a spontaneous orgasm, yet, from rolling around on a mossy forest floor, just me and Mother Nature. …or from a spectacular sunset, the sight of the new moon and Venus twinkling against the black sky. But, I have gone woozy in the midst of Natures sensual pleasure palace and felt wonder, awe, boundless openness to life and uncountable urges to go stick my nose in the pink blooming honeysuckle twining outside the window. Can physical ecstasy be far away?

And now it's your turn. Let go any ideas about "outdoors" being dirty or scary. Find a place outdoors where you feel safe laying in full contact with the Earth, eyes closed and where you are reasonably certain not to be disturbed. Lay down. Now close your eyes. Let your back sink into the soil, the grass or clover or plantain, in soft moss. Feel your body merging with the earth herself, let her follow the contours of your neck, the small of your back and the backs of your legs as you relax into Her Earthy body. Or lay on your front and feel Earth under your cheek, your chest, your belly and thighs.

With your eyes closed, open yourself. Listen for the peep peep of a lone bird, or a cacophony of Spring voices, the hum of insects, drone of bumble bees, sounds of laughing, the voice of the wind as it passes over the land, through tree leaves and around hills.

What can you smell and taste? Open your mouth and see if the air has a taste. Open yourself to the perfume of flowers, of grass and clover, of pollen. Maybe it tickles your nose like pepper, maybe you are filled with pleasant memories associated with Earth's perfume.

Feel the warmth of the sun on your body, feel the warm Earth under your body. Can you feel the beating of your heart, your circulating blood? Relax even deeper and feel the slow deep beat of Earth rhythms. Open your whole Being to her Siren Call, just like the flowers calling to those who will pollinate them: calling for the winds caress to carry pollen to the next tree over, for the hairy legs of the bee to brush their inner organs, for the straw-like mouth of the butterfly to drink nectar. Learn to give the Call, just like the birds calling to those who will mate with them… strutting, puffing, singing, building the finest nests, fanning the most carefully preened plumage.

Send a silent message of thanks to the Earth for her support, for her breezes, internal warmth, and moisture. Feel the iron in your blood, the salt, the water, the oxygen, the life mingle together.

When the experience has filled your soul, rouse yourself, and as you return to your ordinary world, wrap yourself in this highly charged life energy, that the Earth has given you.
Stick your nose deep in a flower, inhale the promise of Summer, feel caressed by the wind, let your imagination fly away with the dandelion puffs and maple whirligigs. Let apple blossoms and catkins rain down on you. Dance in a summer shower. Thrill to the creative climax of May.

Treat Earth like a lover, a beloved: delight in her… and be prepared to feel loved in return.
