Seeds and Harvest
DancingStar
Spring seeds were planted
Flowers, vegetables, fruits
Some plant themselves
Throughout the Wheel of the Year
Naturalized, scattered
Purposefully random
We plant seeds
In our environment, mind, bodies
As sustenance, ideas, beings
All of these I understand
Or at least believe I comprehend
These processes are the nature I know
Now there is an unknown form of seed
Unfathomable, mind numbing
Planted not by the wind nor by hand
Yet growing rapidly
Unbelievably
On the moisture
Of my husband's eye
Conjunctival melanoma
Makes him one in a million
One false move
These seeds can spread
Gathering in the organs
Summer Solstice
Brings joy and dread
Joy, birth of our grandson
Dread, surgery delicate and rare
Hearts are filled with joy and dread
We watch with wonder the grandson growing
We want the seeds in my husband's eye
Barren, infertile
Replaced with hope
The second harvest is upon us
Nature's bounty
Witch's Thanksgiving
Mabon
Harvest we normally celebrate
Is now one of fretful anticipation
We have the harvest of good seeds
To sustain us
The hope of
Deadly seeds to be
Rendered infertile
And the Wheel turns
One
