Pentacle Making
By: Grizz Dragonzhawk
This particular craft is easy to make and a great activity for the kids, adults and elderly alike. It is easy to make and a great way to spend time with the whole family.
What you will need:
- Popsicle sticks (You can find them at local arts and craft stores and I have seem them at my local co-op. You can also find some that were harvested in an environmentally friendly way). (About ten sticks).
- Glue (Elmer's Glue works fine, but is messy. I recommend either a glue stick or a glue gun. When working with glue guns - it is safest to have the adults handle these.)
- Paint (Dependent on your tradition) and paint brushes.
- Glitter (Optional).
What to do:
1. First, put the pentacle together (without glue) to see exactly how many popsicle sticks you will need. Depending on the size, amount will vary.
a. Start by putting the points or V's together. Then weave the design by placing the upper most stick of the right point on top of the right stick of the top point:
b. Put the left stick of the top point above the uppermost stick of the left point. "Weave" as above
2. Continue until to you have the whole "star".
3. Glue together at any connecting points.
4. You can add sticks to make a diamond shape around the pentacle and glue these into place.
5. Allow enough time to dry (about half an hour tops depending on what kind of glue you are using).
6. Paint each point one color:
a. Depending on your tradition, the colors for the elements may be different. Color them according to your tradition or your whimsy. Add glitter.
7. Place on a windowsill and allow to dry overnight.
You can incorporate this particular craft into your Path. One could possibly make one for each direction and for the altar! This is also a great holiday gift that children can make. And, are great ornaments for the Yule tree.
